In the article, Forrester Research's Claire Schooley cites the need for support as a reason slowing adoption of open source LMS products. But other analysts cite the powerful cost driver and extensive community support as factors favoring adoption of open source solutions. The open source product discussed most by Training magazine correspondent Holly Dolezalek, Moodle, has also received attention in the US DoD community.

Moodle is part of a proposed AVI SCORM-compliant game technology platform that includes links to Delta3D, also an open source initiative. See related story for more.
