About PandemicSimulation.com

Preparing for a pandemic requires expertise that is both broad and deep. PandemicSimulation.com seeks to deepen understanding of modeling, game and simulation issues, to foster community contributions to common needs and to build software solutions.

Applied Visions, Inc. (AVI) is a research and software development concern. We're new to the health care simulation work, but not to simulation. In fact, our work in visualization and situation awareness for defense and commercial applications has made us aware of alternative approaches. One such approach involves the use of "serious games." We consider this approach to be an evolution from decades of work in military simulation R&D, but also revolutionary, in the sense of "edutainment."

AVI believes that one important way to further the technology is to reach out to the affected subcommunities -- health care providers, administrations, government workers, the media and private citizens. The web is not silent on pandemic influenza.Indeed, we will be able to point to other content that has accumulated over the past several years. The niche we have in mind for pandemicsimulation.com is to focus on the special challenges that medical facilities and other public-facing organizations would face in such an emergency.
