  • Hoarding Consider the risk that some authorities, clinics or health systems will hoard Tamiflu or other supplies. See a 2005 NPR report "Ethics of hoarding Tamiflu to Combat Bird Flu."
  • Misinformation Effects of rumors and erroneous reporting. For example, consider the incorrect conclusion reached by NY State Health authorities in a December 2006 E. Coli outbreak. State labs erroneously concluded that scallions were the cause, whereas this proved to be a premature conclusion.
