NPR Story on Flu Vaccine Availability

NPR reports that pediatricians are having trouble stocking vaccine designed for their patient populations.

National Public Radio October 17, 2006 Today NPR reported that US pediatricians are having difficulty stocking flu vaccine for their patients. The vaccine is different for young persons. A representative for the manufacturer, Sanofipasteur, said that any delays were in the supply chain were temporary. Physicians questioned why drugstores and other retail outlets did not have similar supply chain problems.

On its website, the US CDC indicated that "CDC anticipates that many providers will be unable to obtain sufficient vaccine to vaccinate all children who are 3 years of age."
